George "György" Simanyi
It is with much love and great sadness we announce that George passed away on October 14, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario. He was predeceased by his parents.
George is survived by his cousin Kalsecz Mihalyne and family, in Belavar, Hungary and will be dearly missed by close friends Elaine and James Pressing, Irma Betker and the Monteiro family.
George was born in Hungary and decided to immigrate to Canada in 1957. He worked for the Toronto Transit Commission since 1968 and retired in 1992. During his life in Canada, George formed close friendships and always lent a helping hand to those who needed it. He was simply generous, enjoyed socializing and always smiled. He moved to Hamilton, Ontario for a quieter retirement over the past 20 years and enjoyed making lasting friendships and taking trips to the Niagara Casino with friends.
Special thanks to the medical team at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Nephrology Unit who worked tirelessly to ensure his care needs were monitored closely. George did appreciate the attention and Tim Horton’s coffees the staff treated him to.
