Bruce David Galbraith

Where I see you now is in the chocolate-shop window. In my favourite new poem and in listening to Arvo Pärt. In the book I just read that was funny and smart and charming. Where I see you is in quotes that make me remember what matters, and in the way my child knows how to interact gently with people, even though I didn't teach them how. You're in a cool kitchen gadget and a rustic coffee shop and an interesting piece of art. You're in the brave and quietly bold, and in unexpected, breathtaking, everyday moments.

Bruce Galbraith was an incredible teacher. He taught us, by example, how to commit relentlessly to enjoying life. Now, we can honour him by sharing music, creativity, kindness, acceptance and generosity.

Surrounded by family and love, Bruce passed away, after a brief illness, on January 13, 2023. His memory is carried by his children, Jonathan and Kirstin; his five grandchildren, Olivia, Julian, Kieran, Juliette and Aveline; his brother James; sister-in-law Maxine; ex-partner June; and so, so many close friends, including Ruth, Leonard, Robert, Donna and Keith. He will be terribly missed by Reverend Meriel, Heather and the entire congregation at Scarborough Bluffs United Church, the Serenata Singers as well as the countless other community groups of which he was an important member. We are comforted in knowing that Bruce is reunited with his late partner, Neil.

As per Bruce’s wishes, there will be no funeral. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Scarborough Bluffs United Church (3739 Kingston Road, Scarborough, 416-267-8265) with a small reception to follow. Friends and family are also/alternatively invited to drop by an open house to share memories and raise a glass in Bruce's honour, at his condo building at 90 Broadview Ave., Toronto,  after 7:00 p.m. on the same date. Please ask the concierge for directions to the Party Room.

If you love to wear black, wear black, but as Bruce was a man who loved beauty and interesting things, please wear anything that you love and that makes you feel good.

Please share your favourite memories, photos and stories of Bruce's life here at his memorial web page.
