I was saddened to hear of Randy's passing. We grew up together in Claresholm, going from grades 1-12 together. His mother Anne taught us grade 7. Our families knew each other well. AHe was such a fun and vibrant guy, always smiling and laughing. My sincere condolences go to Anne, Rhonda, Arlen and all of his family and friends.

I am saddened and heartbroken after learning that Randy has recently passed. There are so many memories as he and his family were a huge part of my early life. We first met in kindergarten and then attended our high school graduation together. Although I last saw Randy at our 10 year reunion I kept in touch with his mother, Anne, until several years ago. Randy & I spent many hours together throughout our school years, practicing piano duets, working on math assignments, attending community & school dances, enjoying movies at the local theatre and just hanging out.
To Anne, Rhonda and family, Arlen and all who were touched by Randy in their lives I send sincere condolences.

I'm so very sorry to hear about Randy. There's so many of us here in Claresholm that would loved to have had contact with him again. He was in my life from an early age because we lived down the street from each other. We started school together, graduated together and like many of us left home and never saw each other again. I know he'll be deeply missed. Sincere condolences to his family and his extended family from myself and all of the Hinkle family.

Randy and I met in September of 1971 as we started university at the University of Manitoba. We both lived in residence since we were far from home. At one event planned to greet freshmen to the residences of Mary Speechly Hall and Tache Hall we ended up standing next to each other exchanging catty remarks about the event. That was the beginning of a long friendship. Even when Randy moved back to Alberta after a few years attending U of M we kept up a correspondence. In those days, a letter sent from Winnipeg to Calgary (or vice versa) would be delivered the next day if it was put in the mail soon enough. When Randy decided to return to his studies at the U of M we rented an apartment in the Wolseley area together and also adopted brother and sister kittens. That apartment was the birthplace of the Thanksgiving get-togethers of a group of students who were living too far from home to go home for that holiday. Although Randy left Winnipeg soon after graduation we continued to call, write and visit when we could. I was able to meet Arlen several times on trips to Toronto and once when he and Randy attended my sister's wedding. Arlen was the perfect mate for Randy and I know Randy loved and appreciated him. Randy was a faithful sender of Christmas cards; I'm just sorry that through some miscommunication on my part he did not receive my answering cards and letters for the last few years. It speaks to Randy's sense of friendship that he continued to send me annual Christmas cards even when he thought I had dropped that mode of communication. Rest in peace my old friend.
