Obituary of Gloria Saunders
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gloria Saunders on Saturday, February 8, 2025. She died peacefully at Credit Valley hospital at the age of 94 . Born in Jamaica she migrated to Canada in 1979 and has made it her home ever since. She leaves behind her sister Jenny; nephew Mike; nieces Judeen and Lois; and many great nieces and nephews , Brianna, Tarik, Nia, Mya, Mikayla, Andre, Azreal, Baby Aaron and numerous other cherished family members and friends.
She was fondly known to both family and friends as “Aunt Tia/Aunt Hya/Aunt Tya”. Addressed by any name, she was the same warm-hearted, selfless soul to all, and was deeply committed to family and to those she held dear.
Aunt Tia cherished the simple joys of life. She loved caring for children, and animals. She loved to cook good food and enjoyed watching her boys, the Blue Jays and Raptors; and she enjoyed watching her soap operas. She had a gift for storytelling (duppy stories), and anecdotes or observations that would fill the room with laughter. On a more serious side, Aunt Tia kept her finger on the pulse of the happenings here at home and abroad. She had the amazing ability to keep up with the worldwide news of the day and its impact, and would readily recount it to any listening ear, along with careful analysis, commentary and personal observations.
Aunt Tia’s legacy of care, compassion and spirit of generosity will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her, she will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Rest in peace, Aunt Tia. Your light will shine forever in our hearts.
Please join us on Friday, February 21, 2025 for visiting from 10:15 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at which time a Funeral Liturgy without Mass will be held at the eco Life Celebration Centre-Magnolia Chapel of St. John's Dixie Cemetery (737 Dundas Street East at Cawthra) followed by the rite of committal on-site.

A reception will follow the burial on-site.
Guests are asked to park in the large lot adjacent to the cemetery lot. Please proceed throught the gates to the north to the west entry of the main building.
