Obituary of Michael Joseph Kelly
My brother Michael passed away on May 8, 2025. He has been released from the troubles that affected him mentally, physically and spiritually. Michael was predeceased by our parents, Eileen and Al “Kelly”, his twin brother Ed and younger brother Kevin.
A loving spouse to Robinia, brother to Colleen (Roy), father to Ryan (Marisa) and grandfather to Riley. Michael was delighted to have a beautiful granddaughter to light up their home with her laugher and charm.
Michael’s life had many ups and downs. As a young fellow he and his twin Ed were a funny, boisterous pair, enjoying all that living in the “Beach” offered. He loved our younger brother Kevin, always ready with a smile and big hug for him. Even with all the turmoil as siblings we stayed connected and this gave me a feeling of comfort and of belonging.
Michael was an avid reader, their home is filled with books from floor to ceiling, a wonderful cook, a dry sense of humour, a Blue Jay fan. Michael was a gentle and kind giant before his demons took him away.
For over 30 years Robinia, gave him the love, kindness, total support and care that sustained him over their time together. Her family, embraced him and added an extra layer of pleasure, thinking of all those scrabble games with Saskia and Ron, BBQ’s at the cottage and later hanging out on the decks of their home.
Michael will be missed by all who knew him. We can honour him by living our lives to the fullest, facing all that life throws our way, and continuing to love and support everyone in our circle.
