Obituary of Trudy Goff

Gertrud (Trudy) Goff

It is with great sadness that I have to announce the death of my mother Gertrud Goff on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 after a brief battle with cancer.

Gertrud Goff was born on Sunday April 6, 1947 in Naestved Sct. Peders Parish in Denmark.  She was soon adopted by Maude and Henning Sivertsen. She emigrated to Canada when she was just a little girl with the rest of her family including her brother Ole Sivertsen.

It should be noted that she hated the name Gertrud and was always known as Trudy to her friends and family.

In the 70s she met and married the love of her life Lanny Floyd Goff and they had one son together, Paul Goff.  Unfortunately, cancer would take the life of Lanny all too soon leaving Trudy widowed and their son Paul would grow up not knowing his father.  Trudy struggled to raise Paul as a single parent for the rest of her working life and sacrificed a lot for her son.

As far as mothers go, Trudy was the best.  She was so kind and understanding.  So much so, that most of Paul's friends secretly wished that Trudy would be their mother because she was so caring and easy to talk to.

In the 80s Trudy worked at Carrier Technical Industries and made many friends there.

It was when Trudy soon took a job at Women's College Hospital in Toronto that she found her true calling.  She worked there for around 30 years in the Purchasing Department.  She was so good at her job and so helpful that most people would go out of their way to deal just with her when they were ordering supplies.  It is here where she met most of her lifelong friends including her best friend Nina How.

She has also been a Cat Mom to many cats over the years including the 2 most recent additions to the family, Cleo and Toby who both miss her greatly.

I want to personally thank all of Trudy's family and friends who have sent messages of condolence and offers of help during these trying last few weeks.  I also want

We deeply appreciate the service and care of her health staff in her last days including her nurses Lindsay and Chelsea, as well as her doctors Dr. Lau and Dr. Otal, and the PSWs that came to her house to help care for her in her final days.  I would also like to thank the staff of eco.  Nathan, Lisa and Danielle are truly one of a kind and your efforts and services are a gem and have given us peace of mind and comfort in these stressful days.

Trudy was such a kind, loving and generous soul.  She always put other people first sometimes at the expense of herself.  The loss of her leaves us all with a tremendous hole in our heart that can never be filled.  She will be missed most by her son Paul Goff and Darl.  Heaven gained a loving angel who is now smiling down upon us and guiding us from above.
