Obituary of Peter George Pougnet

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved father, brother, and uncle, Peter Pougnet, on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto.

Born in 1951, Peter was a shining light in his family. The only brother to four sisters, he grew up alongside them in a close and loving home, where the family shared life’s joys and faced its challenges together.

Peter had a deep passion for music, movies, and found great happiness in the company of others. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help anyone in need. Whether repairing a sound system, fixing a gadget, or lending a hand to a neighbour or friend, Peter gave of himself freely and selflessly.

Above all, Peter will be remembered for his humility, warmth, his humour, his unwavering care for those around him, and his gentle forgiving heart.  He was a man who never held a grudge, always choosing kindness over conflict.   Even during his time in hospital, staff and caregivers often remarked on his lighthearted spirit and the joy he brought to others.

Peter was predeceased by his beloved parents, Cecil and Nesta Pougnet, and is now reunited with them in heaven.

Peter is survived by his daughter, Megan (Ahsan), his sisters Arlene (Norton), Pamela (Amit), Lorainne (Krishna), and Patricia (Roger), as well as his nieces, nephew, and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Peter will live on in our hearts forever.
