Božidar Uroda

Obituary of Božidar Uroda

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Božidar Uroda at the age of 81 on March 12, 2026; he was surrounded by the love of his family.

Božidar was born on May 13, 1944, in Zagreb, Croatia. In 1971, he made the courageous and bold decision to leave his homeland and come to Canada with his young family, seeking a better future. That journey, taken with hope and determination, became the foundation of a life defined by hard work, resilience, and deep devotion to family and friends.

He was a proud Croatian, carrying his heritage with him in everything he did—from the food he shared, to the language he spoke, to the values he lived by. He was “old school” in the best sense of the word: strong, honest, capable, and dependable. Whether building, fixing, helping, or creating, he was always there. If something needed to be done, Božidar showed up.

To those who knew him, Božidar was truly one of a kind. He had a heart that gave freely—always ready to help, never expecting anything in return. He was loyal, trustworthy, and generous not only to his family and friends, but even to those he had just met. His presence brought comfort, his humor brought laughter, and his strength made others feel safe.

Behind his strong exterior was a deeply loving man. He took great pride in his family and found his greatest joy in their happiness and success.

He will be remembered for the countless memories he created—working side by side on projects, sharing meals and traditions, watching soccer, laughing together as a family and with friends, and filling every room with his unmistakable presence.

Božidar is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Graziella, his daughters Gloria and Natalie, his son-in-law Larry, and his cherished granddaughters Katarina, Isabella, and Evangeline. He leaves behind not only a family who loved him deeply, but a wide circle of friends and extended family who were touched by his kindness, character and generosity.

To many, he was more than a friend—he was like a brother. A man whose character, loyalty, and goodness left a lasting impression that words can scarcely capture.

The name Božidar means “gift from God”, and those who knew him would agree that he truly lived up to that name.

Though our hearts are heavy and the loss feels immeasurable, we hold on to the love he gave and the legacy he leaves behind. His final written words, “Things will be better tomorrow,” remain a quiet and lasting reminder of his strength, his hope, and the way he lived his life.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
