This news comes as such a shock. I have some fond memories of Derek, laughing at jokes at Tim Hortons or him laughing at me trying to drive his second wheel chair upto your apartment, drive balls at the parc with my clubs and forget to yell fore. But one of my fondest memories is when we had that flood on 42nd second st and we thought it would be a great idea to wander through the parc. Little did we know we were being taunted by a big turtle. But Derek did manage to find a pretty good fold up chair. A lot of things he will be remembered for especially with his humor as we had the same kind.
I am deeply sorry for your loss for you and your family. He be missed and in our prayers.

Melissa, I have no words. It feels surreal to be writing this... Despite his health problems, Derek honestly seemed invincible to me.
I still smile thinking about our ongoing Star Trek versus Star Wars arguments. He never let me win that one. And I don’t think I’ll ever hear someone say “good morning” again without thinking of him replying, “what’s good about it?”
Derek helped more people than he probably realized, myself included. I’ll always remember his kindness and his big heart. I’m so sorry Michael and I couldn’t be there today. Sending so much love to you, Hannah and Brighton through such a difficult loss. Give Hades pets from me & Michael ♥️
