Obituary of Derek Sweet
It is with deep sorrow and profound shock that we announce the sudden passing of Derek Timothy Martin Sweet of Mississauga Ontario, who left us unexpectedly on Saturday May 2nd, 2026.
Born on March 8th, 1970, in Toronto to his late parents Valorie (Turner) and Ron Sweet. Derek was known for his vibrant spirit and humor. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed the simple things in life; good food, good conversations, Tim Hortons coffee and spending time with loved ones, family and friends. Derek was a passionate music lover who enjoyed collecting model cars, driving RC cars and flying drones. He will always be known as a superfan of Star Wars and Marvel movies.
Derek was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, his loss is deeply felt by all who knew him. Derek is survived by his wife, Melissa, his children, Hannah and Brighton, and his dog, Hades. He is also survived by his stepfather Wayne, brother Evan, his nephew Nathan, his auntie Clare, aunt Susie, uncle John and cousins Gareth,Cerian, Ffiona, Tia and Sam.
A gathering to remember Derek will be held on Friday May 8th, 2026 with open house visiting between 1:15 and 2:30 p.m. with a Tribute to him at 3p.m. at eco Cremation & Burial Services Inc. (1105 Queensway East Suite 30, at Stanfield, Mississauga, Ontario).
Due to a road closure at Stanfield Road, guests are asked to enter eco by either traveling south on Stanfield and turning right into the lot, or traveling west on Queensway East and entering the lot of Le Treport Banquet Centre and continuing east to 1105 Queensway East.
