The news of Cliff's passing came as such a shock. John worked with him at OPG prior to retirement, and of course, fished with him as well.
I will remember our times together; John and I, you and Cliff, and Matt as well, ice fishing. Cliff was always so jovial and we had such a great time. On our ice fishing excursion in our hut on Lake Scugog, we had a superb meal of baked beans (lol from the can), fried hash browns, and of course, the crappy we'd just caught, compliments of Cliff's speedy, fish cleaning service. I've never seen anyone clean fish as fast as he did that night....perhaps he was hungry. He and John fished with the guys in North Bay as well.
On a more serious note, our thoughts are with you and your family at this very emotional time, Carol. We will be there for Cliff's Celebration of Life.

I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Cliff, but I worked with Carol and he was talked about by her with the deepest love and respect and I am sure he must have been a great man to have such a wonderful wife.

It was always so evident to see how much Britt loves her dad from all the memories, jokes, and stories that she would share in the short three months that we got to live together. My condolences to Cliff's family and the close knit friends he had from high school. I met Cliff when we were 18/19 and as many of the gang, he was like an uncle to my daughter (Kim Midwinter). He was always with a smile and just a real sweetheart. I know he will leave great lasting memories for all who knew him. Again, my condolences, you are all in my thoughts.

Dearest sweetest Brittany and your loving family. I am so sorry for your tragic loss. I can't imagine the pain you are in. It's strange how things happen. Only 2 days after you lost your dad I also lost my brother who was born in 62. So I truly feel your sadness and emptiness. These men were far too young. We are truly saddened by the loss of another family member and want to send our sincere condolences to Cliff's family Carol, Melanie, Brittany and Matthew. I have many memories of Cliff up in Rawdon where most of us spent our summers. His father, my Uncle Kenny who passed many years ago was a person in my life whom I have never forgotten and speak of him often when relating stories of sitting in the back of his VW Beatle and driving around Golf Road, giving us butterflies in our stomachs. He always treated us, my brothers and I and I'll never forget him. As the saying goes "If Cliff was half the man (and I am sure he was that and more) as his father, then we have lost an incredible man, father, uncle, cousin and human being"! We also want to express our deepest sadness to my Aunt Patsy our thoughts and prayers for strength during this most sad and tragic time. God bless you all and god speed Cliff.
