I have only learned about Tony's passing today. I am so sorry to hear this news. Tony was a great friend, and as we lost touch over the years I have thought of him and the family many times. My deepest condolences on your loss. I will miss him more than ever before and will reflect on his beautiful painting as I do daily. A truly gifted and talented man with an amazing family. I miss you all.

My deepest condolences on the passing of Tony(the Gentle Giant). A wonderful man with a kind soul. I have lots of fun memories from all the Boyland/Szabo gatherings. I will always cherish the beautiful painting you gave my Mother for her 70th Birthday. It hangs proudly in my living room. You will be missed. Love, Helga

Hello Edith & Sons,
My heart broke for you and your boys on Saturday and I was very touched by the stories and videos shared. When Ted returned from Collingwood on Sunday I shared some with him and I told him how much it affected and how it sadden me that the four of us never did get together for Euchre. Tony’s memorial really drove it home for me that we do have to make time for those we care for so there are no regrets.
Ted told me some stories of his time with Tony and how Ted loved working with him at Atlas Alloys because the shifts always passed so quickly and how they were the most enjoyable. They talked of politics, Tony’s art and music and how Ted was surprised that Tony did not know “Jimi Hendrix” or his music. It was Ted who introduced Tony to Jimi and that after many long and lengthy Hendrix discussions Tony later came back to Ted with more information about Hendrix that even Ted didn’t know about. Ted smiled a beautiful smile. I hadn’t shared that Tony’s love for Hendrix was mentioned at the memorial with Ted until after he finished talking to me of his time with Tony. Funny how something as small as a few conversations could have such an influence on an individual and how nice that Ted touched Tony’s life as Tony has touched so many others.
You have two fine sons, a tribute to you and Tony and the loved you shared. May you all find comfort with each other through this difficult time. Let us know when you might be up for some company or possibly a Bingo night (unlike us, Ted like Tony never were Bingo fans).
Love your friend,
Irene

Dear Edith, Charlie & Joseph please accept our deepest condolences on the loss of dear Tony; whom we have such fond and loving memories for so many years. I will always remember Tony playing the guitar and singing "All I have to do is Dream" at Celeste & Manny's...and my children's most treasured memory is when you both took them downtown to see "ET" and then to MacDonald's they will never forget it! It's his kind heart, gentle manner and loving spirit how we will always remember Tony.
We're blessed to have known him, God bless him.

We will always remember Tony as a kind, gentle, gracious and generous man.
We have such fond memories of him and feel blessed to have known him for over 30 years.
He had the ability to make us feel heard and understood. We had many great conversations over the years, and they usually began with Tony saying, "Shall we put the kettle on?" It would be a good, long visit. Tony was intelligent, talented, creative, and a 'trivia king'. We are proud to have his art in our home.
Our children have only good things to say about Tony and remember drawing with him when they were very young. He always treated them tenderly, and was truly a gentle giant.
Edith, Charlie and Joseph please accept our deepest sympathies on the loss of your dear husband and loving dad. We will miss him.

"What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch. We may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget"

To my dear friend Edith, I want to say how sorry I am for your loss. Tony was a kind gentle man and he was also a loving husband and father and a wonderful friend. Tony was an extremely talented artist and a perfectionist in his craft. Bill and I will be forever grateful to Tony who would so generously paint an original painting for us each year to help us raise money for Sick Kids hospital in the memory of our son Robert who passed in 2009. With both yours and Tony's support we were able to raise thousands of dollars each year. We are forever grateful to you both.
I'm very proud to have Tony's art gracing the walls in my home I will cherish them forever. The caricature he painted for my birthday is amazing.
I will miss Tony's gentle nature. I've been blessed to know him.
Love, Bernie and Bill
