So sad that I just learned of Peter's death today, about a year after it happened. My sincere condolences to his family. Peter was a great man, liked by everyone. No one could ever say a bad thing about Peter. He was always helpful, caring, and very knowledgeable about his job. He loved his family so much. I worked with Peter 10 years in Radio Master Control at CBC Radio. My father also moved his family a couple of times. I'm at a loss for words, nothing I can say can ease the pain of his loss.

I wanted to share my deepest condolences to Peter's family and share my highest regard for your father and husband. I am sure many people have told you how often he spoke of you and how with such pride he would share the activities and accomplishments of his children, how obvious it was being a dad was his biggest role. Even though I only worked in Radio Traffic for a short time, it was at the start of my CBC career and he made me feel welcome and created an impression of the CBC that lasted. He was always very welcoming, always there with a big smile, a joke, positivity. He was also very sweet when he found out I was going to be a mother too. He was such a good human being. I am sorry I couldn't be there in person to share with you at his memorial as I don't live in Toronto anymore but wanted to send my best energy to you from across the country.

Peter was one of my trainers when I joined Radio Master Control in 2003. He was a great trainer and had great patience for he knew there was a huge learning curve in running master control . He once told me , “let’s just teach you what you need to know to keep stuff on the air.” He had started at CBC Radio in the mailroom back in 1981. Master control. was a small, tight knit group of radio technicians who became close friends and we shared our lives. We were bonded by a great sense of humour which made working the long and odd hours less difficult. When you do shift work, you tend to have long conversations with your co-workers and get to know them. Peter loved the Maple Leafs, and we’d talk about his frustration of the Leafs not winning enough. To get over the pain of the Leafs losing, Peter would love to talk about music.. He loved the Beatles, who he saw in 1964 at Maple Leaf Gardens, and he loved the band Cream, and James Brown. He was gentle and always thought everybody should be treated with respect. We worked closely together on the afternoon and evening run. I still have the feeling that he will walk through the door and we will begin our shift together.

Dear Catherine, Chris, Kim & family,
When I first came to CBC Radio, Toronto from London, England one of the first people I met was Peter Chin, he quickly made me feel at home with his infectious smile. He always had a positive attitude to life generally and always spoke very highly about the family. He was a very kind, generous, thoughtful with a wonderful sense of humour and lived life to the fullest. He was a friend & colleague and true gentleman. Peter was a real "people person" and who made people feel at ease. He will be sadly missed by me and I am sure by all those who knew him.
May fond memories of your beloved husband/father/uncle Peter bring you comfort during this difficult time in your lives. Look back on all the good memories you were able to have and smile at the fact that you were able to share these before he passed away. Our heartfelt sympathies and prayers go out to you and your family.
May Peter's soul rest in peace and may perpetual light shine on him!!
Malcolm, Gracy Carrasco & family

I have been very lucky to have worked with Peter since I started at the CBC, in 1988.
Peter is the most remarkable and wonderful person I have worked with.
He was extremely dedicated to his work, his colleagues and CBC Radio.
Most of all he was loving and generous. His understanding of others brought insights
that were unique, sometimes quite humorous. He was a very generous man, in so many ways that have touched
and inspired others. I will miss him immensely.
My heart felt condolences to Cathy, Chris and Kim as well as the whole Chin family and Peter's many friends.

When I first came to CBC Radio, one of the first people I met was Peter Chin. He instantly made me feel at home. He took his work very seriously but he did so with a constant positive attitude and an infectious smile! Whenever you talked with Pete, you couldn't help but laugh and smile. He had that effect on people. He was a true unifying spirit. Because of his positive nature, he had a way of bringing everyone around him together. He was the main reason CBC Radio felt like a family to me. Peter would always talk about his family. It was his favourite subject by far. Having had the pleasure to work with him for a long time, I was able to learn all about his family and his life. He was an interesting man, who loved his family a great deal. I was lucky to be able to call him, not just a colleague, but a friend. I will miss him dearly, as will many many other people. My condolences go out to his family and friends.
Rest in peace my friend

Peter Chin was a loyal and trusted friend, and a colleague of the highest calibre. Peter was dedicated to providing outstanding service throughout his CBC career, and had the extraordinary ability to put everyone else at ease, no matter what was going on around him. In short, Pete was just a brilliant human being who adored his family, and was adored by those who came to know him. My heart goes out to his family. And, I'll miss him more than I can say.

My Brother, Friend, and Confidant. With class, bravery and compassion you moved through life making people around you much the better for it. Always thoughtful and cheerful it was a highlight of my life to have been a small part of yours. You were a tremendous family man with deep love for them and you had always an interest and concern for anyone who was fortunate to cross into your path. The pulse of CBC Radio was steered through you. May you rest in Peace.
