Obituary of James McIntosh Millar

Sharing at this time the sad news regarding the passing of James McIntosh Millar, aged 69.

James (or Jim as he was more commonly known) died peacefully in his sleep at the end of May 2018.  While his life ended far too soon, Jim was blessed with having a loving relationship with his daughter Samantha Millar, who he proudly stood and watched graduate from Cardozo Law School in New York City in May 2017.  It was a grand day indeed for Jim.  Samantha was the constant shining light in his life whom he loved so much.

Not to go unmentioned is another young lady named Rosie who came into Jim's life within the past two years.  She is an 11-pound BichonPoo who he was so very fond of.  The two of them spent some great times together, and Rosie (or Rose, as Jim called her) will sadly miss her buddy.

Jim is predeceased by his parents, Mary Ellen and Charles Millar, his sister, Ellis, and his brother, Frank.  He leaves behind his sister Nancy and brothers Hugh (Jean) and Glenn (Nancy), along with nieces (Sheree, Lee, and Elise) and nephews (Ross, Billy, Tony, Adam, and Liam).  Jim was blessed to have many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Jim lived in the Beach neighbourhood of Toronto for most of his life after moving to Toronto from Scotland in the early fifties.  During his earlier years, he spent many hours playing hockey with his friends.  At one time, Jim was also a member of the Balmy Beach Club.  He attended Malvern High School and Ryerson University.  He was a retired City of Toronto employee.  A self-taught guitarist, Jim would enjoy time alone playing his acoustic and electric guitars.

Jim will be missed by his friends as well as Sandra, who is thankful for the relationship that brought Samantha into their lives and also Jim's generous companionship with Rosie.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, June 9 at 3 p.m. at 61 Warland Avenue in Toronto.
