Obituary of Derrell Robert Dular

Derrell (Duke) Dular

Born January 13, 1944

Died November 30, 2018.

Derrell was born in Lincoln Nebraska to Chester and Virginia Dular. He was the eldest of 4 children, Rand (Julia) Dular, Roger David, and is predeceased by his sister Linda Maney.

He grew up in the Cleveland Ohio area and immigrated to Montreal in 1966, later moving to Ontario in 1967. He lived in King City and with his first wife and ran a group home with up to 8 teenagers at a time. He moved to Toronto in 1978, where he met and moved in with the love of his life Cherriann (Cher) Richards. He was a step father to Fiona (Greg) Martins and Rick Richards and a Dziadzia to Todd and Sarah Martins.

He was on the board of Directors of the Ontario Health Coalition, head of the Council of Canadians Toronto Office. Managing director of The Alliance of Seniors to protect Canada’s social programs. He dedicated his life to improving the lives of the less fortunate.

He was respected by all and thought of as a warm and caring person by those who worked and knew him. He will especially be missed by Henry, Grant and Iris Barter.

He will be missed but not forgotten.

We invite you to join us for a brief Interment Service on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at  1 p.m. at Christ Church Memorial Gardens, 329 Royal York Road, Etobicoke. Guests are asked to park on Royal York Road outside of the cemetery front gates and proceed to the pergola in the middle of the cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers donations to The Cancer Society, Bridgepoint Health Centre,The Alliance of Seniors or The Ontario Health Coalition. Online donations can be made via the links available on his homepage.
