I met Bobbie when I was 7.
He was my friend's brother.
He was always teasing me and trying to scare me.
All in good fun, of course.
In high school, he was a football hero and a true cynic.
I think of him as someone who always had a smile on his face and was ready to laugh.
He left us too soon.
Rest in Peace Bobbie.
Much love,
Leslie Stonehouse

I remember Robert's infectious smile, go get em at all times approach and attitude and humourous and biting observations of people and life and all that is. Never afraid to get into a good debate and always pretty much saying what is on his mind. The world needs more of Robert and more people like Robert - it would be a better place for that. Robert, miss you tons - wish you were still with us. The journey is over, you now have your rest - thanks for being part of my life, you made me a better person.
Love
Jason

Robert started out as a colleague, then boss, mentor, financial advisor and best of all he became my friend. Albeit, not always pleasant, he was always honest with me and I appreciated that the most about him. When Gord and I were fortunate enough to meet Renata, the four of us shared many happy times together. Robert was truly one of my favourite people and the world won’t be the same without him.

Renata,
How do I say Goodbye to Robert? I guess the only way is to write about our relationship.
Every Friday since July 2017 was my day with Robert. I was hired to help Robert exercise but ended up as the " Joe Friday" for Robert.
After workouts, we would have Coffee at Amsterdam Bicycle Club across the street from his Condo talk about his life and mine for hours.
Fridays are also called Shopping for food days. He would ask me to go to the market with him and shop. While shopping, he would teach me how to pick the vegetables, meats and the fish he likes. He would also educate me which stores he prefers to get these items.
I had a feeling that he was training me to shop for him in the eventuality that he could not shop anymore.
As weeks passed by, Robert became weaker and I end up shopping for him. After Shopping, we would talk about life and laughed a lot especially when he asks the PSW to do something and she would end up doing something else. He would look at me frustrated and I would say " lost in translation".
Robert, Thank you for being an inspiration. You have given me more than what I have given you. I think of myself as a selfish man because after my day with you, I feel thankful for being alive. Who am I to complain about life, when you never complain about pain.
Thank you for making me understand that life is to be cherished and at the end only Family and true friends will be around you.
Thank you from choosing me as a friend.
SYOTOS ( See You On The Other Side ) dear friend whether with God or as Stardust.
Your Joe Friday,
Joe

My eyes already touch the sunny hill.
going far ahead of the road I have begun.
So we are grasped by what we cannot grasp;
it has inner light, even from a distance-
and charges us, even if we do not reach it,
into something else, which, hardly sensing it,
we already are; a gesture waves us on
answering our own wave...
but what we feel is the wind in our faces.

The first time I met Robert, Renata had prepared me for a man who she described as "a funny man". I didn't know how funny he was until I was in his presence. I always tell Renata that I sometimes catch myself having a laugh because I remember when Renata and Robert were hosting a party and Robert was so energetic and helping with food and setting up. Robert was carrying a tray of light snacks and everyone was having their own conversations in the room. Without warning, there was crash of some sort and as I directed my attention to Robert, I saw him standing there innocently looking down at the tray of snacks turned upside down on the floor. Robert reminded me of an innocent child who was just defeated in a schoolyard game. I always saw Robert as a powerful articulate man who was a straight-shooter yet had the driest humour and I loved it but to see this moment of Robert was beautiful to me as Renata hurried over to help pick up the tray and food and assure him it was okay without saying a word. I just loved the love and chemistry between the 2 of them.
But Renata...my heart aches for you and the family. Justice and I are so sorry for your loss. The love and dynamic between you both was and still is beautiful. Robert will be remembered as he has left his mark on me and even though Justice didn't get to meet him, I shared this story with Justice and we are honored to have known him in the physical being. He is at peace and eternal rest. Love never dies; it just gets transformed.

I was so privileged to enjoy Robert's friendship. I loved our long talks as he let me drone endlessly on about some political issue and then with a gentle smile would bring me down to earth. He was the kindest of men. The world is poorer without him.

My sincerest condolences to Robert's family. I was very privileged to have known and worked with Robert. He was a consummate professional whose opinions on work matters I very much respected. He was always a very steady hand in changing and sometimes difficult times. We enjoyed frequent chats about projects, organizational issues, and many other topics of mutual interest. When I last spoke with Robert he told me that he was ill but that he was dealing with his illness in his own way. That was Robert. I count myself blessed to have known him. God bless you and rest in peace Robert.
