Obituary of Alistair (Vincent) Fraser
Alistair Vincent Fraser was born in St. Vincent and the Grenadines in 1934. Alistair affectionately called; "Vince Cato" was well-known within the Caribbean Community as an established Steel Pan Player. He won many awards throughout his life; including special awards in Canada.
Anyone who knew him can attest to his dedication to music and Steel Pan education. Outside of his musical interests, Vince was also a philanthropist. He was helpful to everyone who requested his help. It was why many considered him as extended family/friends - especially young people whom he believed had a voice but were often ignored. The musical genius would always put the needs of others before himself; as material things were not his primary concern.
Vince Cato sought not to be understood as to understand. His great sense of humour could make you laugh under the worst of circumstances.
Alistair served his people, well. Yes, "He walked with kings but never lost the common touch." Vince Cato was a true disciple, who laid up treasures in heaven because he gave himself away in sacrifice and love that others may live.
