The loss of a child is heartbreaking, even if you knew the chances of losing your loved one were high. If I have been successful, there will be two photos added with this message. They were taken April 19, 2016. Peter had visited our daughter Jennifer and stayed with us for awhile. We got ice cream before Peter caught a VIA train to Toronto. Peter and I became FB friends. We would comment back and forth as he shared about his trials and successes. He messaged me with Messenger on Sept 18th this year. He had just heard about Jennifer taking her life. He must have missed seeing that she had left us on Nov 17th last year. She was 26. I shared with him part of the note Jennifer left us: “Please, to honour me and my memory, be strong and carry on. Take comfort in knowing I may now be in peace, with some family, friends, and my little Mabel.” Mabel had been Jen’s dog. Our condolences to Peter’s Mom and Dad, sister and brother and friends from my husband Gary and I. I wish you strength and peace as you work through your grief. We are happy Peter was part of our lives too. We are sorry for your loss.

Peter was a kind friend to my twin sister, Jennifer (pictured with him in the photo), and stayed with us in our family home for a bit in 2016. He was such a sweet soul and I was fortunate to get to know him. My sister died by suicide in November of 2018 and I will always remember Peter warmly for the support he was to her back then. My condolences to friends and family for such a sad loss ❤.

You crossed my mind only a couple days ago as I passed a spot where we had chatted at length about life. A kindhearted, thoughtful, passionate, critical thinker. You gave so much to so many. Peter, I remember you when you were an awkward teenager, in your first interview for POSSE. I remember your depth and insight at such a young age. That depth and insight only grew throughout the years. As did our friendship and my love for you and your whole family. You kept in touch with me, something I am not very good at doing on my own. You reached out and kept me in your life and I am a better person for it. The candid conversations we would have and passion for social justice. The growth I witnessed in your sense of self and care for others, continued to motivate me to keep on doing the work...even when it hurts. It hurts right now buddy. But like we discussed, the hurt is a testimony to the love. So glad to love you!
