My father (also Joe) owned the big slice on Yonge and gerrard. He hired Joe to revamp the place to sell it. I was young but I remember Joe vividly. He was a very nice man and very cool, reminded me of a movie star from the 70s. God rest his soul.

I'm not sure where to begin. I feel awful not writing something when I first heard of cousin Joe's passing. Yes, cousin Joe or Joey as I remember. My dad Nestor Bohonos was Joe's uncle in Winnipeg (brother of Joe's dad Bill). I never really knew cousin Joe, only met him very few times. What I do remember was how cool he was. When I was really young, 7 or 8 years old, the family went go to Uncle Bill's and Aunt Mary's and I remember Joe took the time to hang with me for a little while, show me around their neighbourhood and show me Uncle Bill's cool car at the time (Mercedes Benz it was). Joe would sometimes come to my mom and dad's place and dad and Joe would discuss music and painting. This is where I got my first taste of the Moody Blues and Lee Michaels (little things like that can be big influence and I thank Joe for that). Then Joe was gone to Toronto and only had the chance to see Joe at his mom's and brother Bill's funerals. But even then Joe and I would say hello and go have a cigarette together. I obviously didn't know Joe that well at all but to me he was decent and friendly and that's what I remember (and his old big Dodge van too). I'm not sure why there was no contact with Joe when he went east, I'm not going to speculate since I was out of the loop. All I know was I liked Joe and I felt I needed to write something as he was family for crying out loud. To Joe's immediate family, my deepest apologies and thoughts and very sorry for this late response. Joe deserves better respect. I'm also sorry, I don't know you (Joe's immediate family) and that's sad too. Again, my heart felt prayers to you and cousin Joe.
