Oh Cindy
I used to call you Yindy...I am only just finding out this news now and it is shattering news. So many years I spend with you and Max and Denis, and then with you and Banjo and I had heard about the lovely person in your life Ian. I am so very sorry for all your family. You were such a bright, funny, sardonic and honest person. I will never ever forget your laugh. Even when we last spoke during the early days of the pandemic, you made me laugh and you were so free with your joy and humour. You will not be forgotten. I send all my love to Max. May the music guide you and may you sing gracefully along, Mary Joy.

It Is with great sadness that I have learned of Cindy’s passing! Cindy was a generous empathetic and deeply insightful Circle Keeper and Circle Trainer at Peacebuilders International (Canada)! We lost touch in recent years after she moved into the country and I have often thought to reach out and try to find her - My deepest condolences to Cindy’s partner, son, family and friends - Eva

The Echo Women's Choir met yesterday in High Park, to sing for real together, which has been incredibly rare, ever since we started our pandemic Zoom rehearsals. We had much to recover, for ourselves, and Cindy was on our minds and in our hearts. We followed her suggestion to sing joyfully (joy appears repeatedly in her obituary), by singing a dance song, Cindy, Cindy. And we cared for ourselves too, by singing the South African lullaby, Thula, which was precious to her and to many of us. Then we discussed some vivid memories of how she'd met us, and joined Echo, and supported the visit of the Polokwane Choral Society, so many years ago. Those memories struck deep, and we gave thanks for a life so well lived. All blessings of courage and strength to the many people who loved Cindy, for bearing her loss and holding the good memories close.

Our deepest sympathy to Cindy's family and her multitude of friends. Cindy was a gem, a one of a kind gift to all who knew her; generous, caring, encouraging, and wise. We met her through the Markdale Area Refugee Support (MARS) project where her compassion and commitment were on full display. We are fortunate to have had the opportunity to share part of the journey with her. Cindy touched the lives of so many people; she made a difference in this world.

My deepest sympathies to her partner Ian and son Max and all of the Dymond Family.
I remember Cindy babysitting me while our parents went out for dinner or drinks the night before Grandpa McLaughlin's funeral. I was around 7 years old and had come with my parents who had left my siblings at home in London. The Dymond family had two rooms in the motel and Cindy was in charge in the one room with the younger children. Cindy was kind and made me feel safe when I had never stayed in a motel without my parents. Even at age 12 or 13, there was no doubt of who was in charge. I thought that she was amazing.

This piece that Cindy wrote is really lovely, and so characteristic of her deep compassion for all, her intelligence, and thoughtfulness, but a trigger warning that it describes violence against women: http://www.dymondmediation.com/in-memory-of-nighisti-semret/

My condolences to all of Cindy's family and friends. I am so deeply saddened to hear this news. Cindy was my first ECHO section mate, and it was through her friendship and encouragement that I found my way into the community of world music singers. I will be forever grateful for the songs and time we shared together. Sing on Cindy. Sing on.

Mark, thanks for these. The older family ones really make me aware of how often it was her and the 6 brothers. I mean I know it, but these show it.
