Obituary of Ulyana Chorniy
It is with deep sadness that we announce that Ulyana Chorniy passed away on Friday, May 20th, in the early hours.
Ulyana was born in L’viv, Ukraine. Her family (husband Oleh and kids Andrew and Sofiya) immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1997.
Ulyana was a respected teacher and mentor, loving friend, wife and mother - and was cherished and loved by many.
She was often remembered as being greatly supportive & reassuring, by those in her family as well as her work community.
As of 2015, she loved going to Aruba, where she could relax and take care of her property and feed stray dogs, which became sort of like her pets.
It’s still sinking in that she’s gone & the grieving process has felt like a range of ocean weather states. Cycles of tumultuous waters, then peace. Remembering beautiful shared moments bring us joy, yet hint at what’s been robbed from our now non-existent future with her in the physical world.
We will try to integrate her passing by working to embody her best qualities in ourselves.
We pray her soul has a smooth journey to the other world & find peace partly in the knowing that we will reunite with her one day.
If your mom is still with you (& if possible) - try to love her up some more, knowing that many do not have the privilege.
Rest In Peace Ulyana/Mama
