Lyne, Sean, Chloe and family
As a parent I have no words to give you that could adequately represent what you’re going through or the heartfelt condolences I have for you.
I did not know your Liam as a grown man. My memories are of Lyne walking down the airport pregnant with both Liam and then Chloe.
Sean of you smiling from ear to ear when each one was born and recapping the story of their birth to us all. I truly don’t think your feet touched the ground!
Memories Of you guys flying out to YUL or somewhere with them as little ones.
These are my memories.
I look at Liam’s picture and I see his mother’s eyes and his father’s wicked smile.
I pray for strength for you to take each day in front of you. I pray for breath in your lungs to keep going.
Continue to celebrate this beautiful human being you made.
May we all celebrate Liam by giving of ourselves to others without expectation of any return.

I met Liam only once but I spent a good part of the day with him. I spotted him from a distance, in Sean's office, and whispered to Sean. " Who's that kid?" Then he introduced me to Liam.
While Liam and I gathered the flags and banners and drove to the airport in my jeep, I realized that Liam was no ordinary kid. He was well educated and we ended up talking about history as well as the environment. I can't remember the full details of my conversation with him but I distinctly remember the impression he made on me. Here was was a contemporary kid who was at a higher par than I could have set for myself decades ago. He was also a gentle soul.
I wish I had gotten to know him more but in spite of the relatively brief time that I spent with him, he left an impression that is permanent. Unfortunately, I am not able to attend his funeral. However, wherever he is now and whichever state of existence that is, five things are for sure:
1. Life is like energy; it cannot be created or destroyed. It simply changes into a different state of existence.
2.He must be in his gentle and benevolent self.
3. My prayers are with him.
4. Wherever he is now, we all will be there one day.
5.And if souls like him are there, it must be a beautiful place

Liam was a brave young man who embraced life and hope and, when he marched in the Terry Fox march when you were both here during the Fox family visit, he underscored even more the stuff he was made of - thinking of others, indeed fighting for others, helping Cuba in its own struggles against cancer.
Liam was a "Terry Fox" by another name. He leaves behind his embrace and fight for life. And he leaves behind his beautiful smile. Both are gifts to be forever treasured.

I would like to express my deepest condolences to the Smith family on the passing of their son, Liam. I met Liam when I was in my first year at Glendon College, York University. Liam was a very nice, hard-working, funny, always joking, intelligent and kind person. He would always welcome me to his apartment in Toronto with open arms. I cannot believe that he is gone and is no longer with us. I remember that when I had invited him to a club that I am a member of, Tangri Toastmasters International after he said no at least three times to me, he had told me via text message that "I even put on a shirt for you Bijoy" in response to me messaging him to thank him for coming to our club as a guest to see what Toastmasters is about. I had spoken to Liam on May 2, 2022. I had called him because I had noticed that one of his roommates that lived with him in Toronto was moving out and moving to another place in Toronto through an Instagram story. I immediately called him to say that I noticed that his roommate had left and that he was the only person left. I was only planning to talk to him about this and then end my conversation. However, I knew that he was going through some health challenges so I asked him how he was doing, how his health was and so forth. He was talking about how his treatment was going, the next steps regarding this and what he had planned to do after his treatment ended and so forth. Little did I know that this would be my last conversation with him. When I found out that he had passed away last week, I was in complete shock. I thought that he would have survived and made a full recovery. It's just so shocking that Liam is no longer with us. May Liam Rest in Peace!

I worked with Liam for about a year at Ikea and he always made the shift more fun. We were in different depts but whenever I'd pass by him he would always be laughing or telling some crazy story, I couldn't believe how he made use of his time after work when I would've just gone home and slept ahah. The news of his passing came as a shock because he was always so full of life; he will be missed. My deepest condolences to his family in this time.

Liam was an incredible man. I met him early into my first year of university and have fond memories of parties, sea shanties, DND, and generous donations of weed butter. One summer he was surveying birds that had hit windows on campus, when he explained what he was doing to me his passion and dedication for his work was evident, and his interest was contagious. The world has lost an amazing soul but his memory will be cherished in the hearts of the many who loved him.

I worked with Liam at Camp Connection a few years back. Liam was so kind, generous, funny, stubborn & understanding. He definitely made the slow shifts go by much faster. I remember Liam always talking about nature, the environment, the different meals/food he made, his fresh bread. I remember telling him how crazy he was for walking in -30°C an hour walk to Glendon Campus from home or to work. Now that is dedication. He always ensured that the dead or blown batteries got disposed of correctly at work and not thrown into the garbage. It was a pleasure to be able to get to know Liam & work with him, I will not forget his warm smile & kind heart. Many great memories & laughs that we shared. May he rest in peace & continue to smile. Dear Sean, Lyn, and Cloie, and all Liam's wonderful friends.
It is with sadness that I write these words of condolences.
I have fond memories of Liam, such a young man when he gave his energetic support and solidarity helping at Toronto-Cuba Friendship Day at City Hall on several occasions. This annual event, was such a happy affair, with music, food, drinks, friends and so much solidarity. Sean always helped in the beer garden, lugging cases of Steam Whistle beer across the square and chatting and supporting the volunteer bartenders.
I remember Liam was with us in Cuba when some of us attended the annual Terry Fox run in Havana along with special guests of Terry's mother, father and sister. The Cubans were so excited to meet the family of this young Canadian who selflessly rallied support to the cause of cancer research.
We had no idea then that Liam would face his own battle with this disease. My heart goes out to Liam's family at their loss of such a fine, handsome, kind and generous young man. I cherish my happy memories of Sean.

My deepest and most heartfelt condolences go to Liam's family and friends. His absence will definitely leave a big hole in all our hearts. The first time I met Liam at IKEA, I was working in Bathroom Vanities and he would always stop by on his way to his break and chat for a while. Talking to him was always easy and delightful. He was learning Farsi from Mina and he wanted me to help him as well. I always refused to help him with the swear words but he learned them from other Farsi-speaking coworkers anyway and came and shared them with me. At the end, he had learned swear words that I had never even heard of and had to ask him to translate to English for me so I could understand them!! We always had a good laugh. But "swear words" are not the only thing that remind me of Liam. His passion for the environment and for defending everyone's rights, his dedication to any task that was thrown at him and above all, his big kind heart, is how I will always remember Liam. I miss him.

My condolences. I went to Glendon with Liam, and in first year we had electives together. He was friendly, funny and would pronounce some words with an Irish accent. There aren't many people like Liam in the world. He was a bit rough around the edges, could get a little belligerent when he had too much whiskey and was just a tiiiny bit old-fashioned. But he was also one of the biggest history nerds, nature lovers, and hardest workers I've ever met. He had a quiet intelligence and was exceptionally handy, he always had a DIY attitude. No matter what life threw at him, Liam always had a smile (and maybe an eye-roll)
Liam and I have known each other for about 7 years, but we became especially close during the pandemic and his leukemia diagnosis. Not only was he one of my best friends, he was my adventure buddy. He was always down to go outside and explore; from food fests to hikes in the woods to swimming/biking on Toronto Island, Liam was there with his birdseed and facts about invasive species. He HATED the invasive frogs and carp, but he had a soft spot for the sparrows
I already miss our late-night video games sessions, our discord chats while he was in the hospital, and especially our D&D sessions. We used to belly laugh for hours about the stupidest stuff and I just wish I had gotten more videos of him telling his stories (he had a lot of them!).
I'm honored to have known him, and I hope I can be half as good a friend to others as he was to me.

Liam was a sweet loving caring man. I worked with him for around 3 years at IKEA. He was such a character, loved by everyone at work. Liam was the age of my kids, I was always impressed by him, and looked at him as an ideal son, a self-made person, a hard worker, humble, funny, down-to-earth, social person who has the ability to engage with all people. it was clear he was raised with love and care, and he was spreading that love in return to everyone he crossed paths with.
I remember Liam with his passion for birds and nature, his beers, and PlayStation. he used to scold me to not spoil my kids too much. Every day that I worked alongside Liam he made my day brighter and more fun with his jokes and short temper. he used to share stories with us about building IKEA items for his mum and sister. He told us how much fun he had with his dad on a Europe trip, and when he used to go camping with his dad and uncle.

Liam was one of the first people I met at Glendon. Two of our friends had started seeing each other and so naturally we became third and fourth wheels. Liam and our friend Octavio would come in and hangout at the bar I worked at, and distract me during my shift. He made me drink horrible IPAs like bone shaker, bought my cigarettes for me when I was just shy of 19, and got me so drunk at one of his birthdays that i had to be tucked into bed…but he was so much more than parties - he was one of the smartest people I ever knew. We argued constantly, debating history and ethics and hypotheticals and we NEVER agreed, but I always left those conversations feeling smarter and more well rounded as a person. I hadn’t seen Liam in a while - life gets in the way and people drift but whenever our paths would cross he would greet me with the same smile and warmth as always. He will be so missed by so many. Xx

Liam was one of the first people I started hanging out with when I started university. An absolute example of a welcoming soul who worked to cheer up those around him. A ray of sunshine in most people's clouds who always reminded those around him of the importance of conscientiousness, industriousness, and gratitude for what we have. It saddens me that we have lost him because the world lost someone who's had the potential to lead many in this world towards a better life. I will miss you Liam Smith.
