Obituary of Elaine Mildred Begg
Our sweetest Mama, Elaine Mildred Begg (nee Udell) passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday November 8th, 2022 after a courageous and brave fight against cancer.
Elaine was born on October 20th, 1948 in Toronto, Ontario. Elaine and her cherished big brother were raised by her loving parents William and Mildred Udell in the small township of Melissa, near Huntsville Ontario. The memories and beauty of those childhood times were always woven into her stories and remembrances. The swimming hole, the garden, the leaves turning colour, the adventures…the beauty of a loving family and wonderful childhood.
Elaine loved to share her baking, jams, tea biscuits, banana bread and scrumptious cooking with her friends and loved ones and the table always had room for one more. If you were ever looking for Elaine you could find her in her kitchen pulling something delicious out of the oven.
Her life was an example of her favourite saying, “You can let it make you bitter or better…I choose better”. She lived this always, right up until her last breath.
She was compassionate, funny, loving, caring and sweet. Her many family and friends, her neighbours and even strangers were recipients of kind words, her listening ear.
Elaine is survived by her cherished brother and sister in law Bob and Joan and her lovely nieces. Her sister in law Sandra. Her two daughters, Kim and Shannon and son in law John. Her grandchildren, Patricia (and Patricia’s partner Adam), Sofia, Emma-Rose and Noah and her precious great grand daughter Celine.
Elaine’s love and kindness touched the lives of many friends, through her life and even strangers soon became friends.
Elaine received the best care imaginable through the Temmy Latner Palliative Care Center and their Palliative at Home Programme. We cannot thank them enough.
