When I first moved to town 2-3 years ago,I met Mark and Huckleberry while out for a stroll with my little one. Huckleberry was so quiet , he snuck up on me and I screamed and jumped when I turned around and saw him. He just looked at me with his cute , puppy eyes with a big stick in mouth like “whoa lady why are you screaming? Hey look at this cool stick I found!! Wanna play?” I laughed and Mark smiled and told me his dog was super friendly ; I believed him :)
Mark and Huckleberry were BOTH so friendly. Mark and I would exchange a few words of greeting and then we would be on our way. It became a comfort to see them around and I would keep my eye out for them. I remember one day after not seeing them for a while I was driving in the car and I saw mark and Huck and so I rolled down my window and yelled, “Whose a good boy?” And Mark laughed perhaps wondering if I meant him or the dog? He seemed like a quiet and really friendly man. It was always nice to see the duo walking in the area. I had not noticed them lately and now I know why. I was shocked when I opened the news email today and saw a photo of Mark there. My heart sank. I’m so sorry for your loss. He will be missed. I appreciate him and Huckleberry being a part of my first few days in town and a fond memory at that.

My deepest condolences to the Heideman family. I remember Mark well easy going guy and we played road Hockey and on the same ice hockey team for a couple years fixing our stick's with epoxy and trying different colours of tape for the next game. Mark bought me my first NFL breathable sport shirt LA Rams. Good times when we were much younger. Rest in peace Mark Ole friend..

My parents Kevin & Grace McArthur just called to inform me of the passing of Mark. When I was younger I remember seeing Mark at my parents place with a bunch of my dads friends who would always be watching whatever sports that just happen to be on tv that weekend….Mark was always the fun one out of the bunch. He would always go outside, play tag, football, run around, draw and colour pictures with me. He was like a fun uncle to me. I’m going to miss him so very much. These fond memories will always be in my heart. ❤️

To the family of Mark –
Recently, I noticed a card delivered to my porch and learned of Mark’s tragic death. Mark was as friendly as they come – happy, cheerful, open, with a welcoming disposition that made conversation so easy.
I met Mark not long after we adopted our rescue dog “Martha” just before COVID. Like many others, I was impressed by how well trained Mark’s dog was. When we were given our Aussie puppy named “Phoebe” last year, I often asked Mark for advice and he listened graciously to my training woes. I remember how relieved I felt that he had experienced the arm nipping I was trying to manage! Sometimes during my working days, Mark and Huck would come to play in our back yard. Phoebe in particular, always gave Mark a very zealous, physical welcome and Mark loved her back. His visits always cheered my day.
The reality that Mark will no longer be cheering up our neighbourhood, strolling our sidewalks alongside Huck and loving our dogs is so painful and difficult to fathom. We were blessed just by his presence in our community. Dog lovers across Georgetown will miss him and are grieving alongside with you.
Deep, deep condolences to you as you mourn the horrific and untimely loss of such a beautiful person. I am disappointed that I cannot be at the celebration of life planned for this weekend. However, I will be thinking of the event.

Dear Heideman family,
Mark has a peaceful soul that made you always feel comfortable. Knowing Mark for almost 40 years as a tenant, he was a reliable friend who helped take care of the property and watched over other tenants. He was patient, kind, honest, trustworthy, forgiving and willing to give a helping hand. Oreo will miss the dog walks and play time during the cleaning days he came by. Mark was like a son to us and we hope he knows that, because he will be greatly missed.
Landlords,
Ignac, Nada and family

No words can express how deeply sorry I am for the loss of Mark. I always enjoyed his company when he would stop and chat with me. I was also so in awe of him and his love for the dogs and how Karma would just follow him around town with her blue frisbee.
My deepest sympathies to all of Mark's family. Love and Hugs to you all.
