Alan Pike

Obituary of Alan Pike

Alan Pike passed away in Toronto, Ontario, on July 23, 2024, two days shy of his 74th birthday. Despite a tough battle with cancer, he fought hard against his illness and never stopped making the people around him laugh.

Alan was a photographer, a sailor, and a gifted storyteller. He worked as a pipe fitter in his younger years before transitioning to a career as a computer programmer/analyst for the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto.

An avid walker, Alan has likely stepped on every sidewalk square in downtown Toronto. He also completed multiple Camino trails in Portugal and Spain.

He is survived by his sons Zebulon and Nolan, his grandchildren Kayleigh and Sam, his sisters Margaret and Christine, his brothers Howard and Tom, and his partner Michèle. He will be deeply missed.

Alan will be honoured with a celebration of life ceremony and reception on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 with visiting beginning at 11:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 12:15 p.m. A reception will follow-on site thereafter. All events will be held at the eco Life Celebration Centre-Magnolia Chapel of St. John's Dixie Cemetery & Crematorium (737 Dundas Street East at Cawthra, Mississauga).

Guests are invited to park in the large lot adjacent to the church and proceed through the north gates to the large building ahead.

For those unable to attend, a live stream will be made available by clicking this link HERE at approximately 12:10 p.m. ( virtual guests are reminded to have their volumes on high and that no technical assistance will be made available).

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to one of the following charities. Alan cared a great deal about poverty in Toronto and these organizations do important work to assist those in need.
