Obituary of Bruce Erickson

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Bruce Erickson. Bruce passed away on June 14th, 2024, at the age of 86 at Trillium Hospital.

Born in Nelson, British Columbia.  Bruce pursued his passion for Physics at the University of British Columbia, earning his Bachelor's degree, and later completing his master's degree at the University of Toronto. His career journey took him to Montreal where he worked as a meteorologist before becoming a dedicated high school math and physics teacher at Martingrove Collegiate, where he retired in 1993.

During his studies at the University of Toronto, Bruce met the love of his life, Bonnie Erickson, with whom he enjoyed a joyful marriage of 59 years.

Bruce had a zest for travel and exploration, having ventured to numerous destinations around the globe including Australia, Fiji, China, and Egypt, but his heart belonged to Hawaii, a place he cherished and recently visited in April of this year.

At home, Bruce found contentment surrounded by his family, always ready to fix anything with his resourceful touch, often relying on a bit (or a lot) of glue to mend what was broken.

Bruce leaves behind a large, loving family including three children, eleven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, as well as an extended family who adored him dearly.

He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
