Obituary of Vijay Kumar Nayyar

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our courageous father. Vijay came from India to his adopted home of Canada in 1967 where he met the love of his life, his Greek goddess, Georgia. They were married in 1969 and went on to have 5 children and after 55 years of marriage, his loving family had grown to include 10 grandchildren and an extensive family along with many friends.

Vijay was a kind, loving, and generous person who was always keen to offer his help and provide his sage advice on everything from medicines to investments.

Vijay passed away peacefully at home at the age of 83 on Thursday September 5, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Vijay will be missed by his heroic wife Georgia, his five children, Savita (Desmund), Alex (Margaret), Ruby (J.C.), Christina (Brad) and Neena (Yianni) and his 10 grandchildren, Sebastien, Sophia, Nathan, Emily, Andrew, Grayson, Alexa, Leo, Pavlos and Demi.

We will miss his morning calls, words of wisdom and advice. There are no words to express the sadness we feel in our hearts. But we are at peace knowing our dad is no longer suffering.

We love you to the moon and back again.

Please join us for visitation on Saturday, September 7, 2024 beginning at 9:45 a.m., at the eco Life Celebration Centre-Chapel of St. James-The-Less, St. James' Cemetery & Crematorium (635 Parliament Street, Toronto). Vijay's Funeral Pooja will take place at 11 a.m., followed by cremation.

Parking in the cemetery is limited. Guests may park along Parliament Street or inside the cemetery laneways facing west or south.
