Obituary of Michael Thomas McWhaw

Michael Thomas McWhaw Beloved father, Pop Pop (grandfather) and friend to so many, Mike passed away on October 16, 2024 suddenly but peacefully at St.Michael’s hospital with his son by his side.

Predeceased by his father Joseph McWhaw and his mother, Betty Evelyn Gillespie.

Mike was born on April 8 1957 in Toronto Ontario, however he grew up in Montreal Quebec, but never a Habs fan. After graduating from Concordia University Mike moved back to Toronto to begin his career and eventually started his family.

Mike's (Pop Pop) greatest passions were his three grandchildren Jonathan Terence (9), Camrynn Carter (3) and his namesake Joseph Michael (15 mths) Carreiro.He enjoyed golf , watching and playing all sports and the camaraderie he shared with his friends over a glass of red wine. He will be deeply missed by his daughter Michele (Brian), son Lee (Fernanda) as well as his step-mother Sheila, brother Gordon (Anne), nephews Andrew (Helen), Paul and niece Jennifer.

Services will be held on Wednesday October 23rd, with visiting from 11:15 am until his Memorial Service at 12:30 pm at the eco Life Celebration Centre-Magnolia Chapel of St. John’s Dixie Cemetery & Crematorium (737 Dundas Street East Mississauga, at Cawthra).

Guests are invited to park in the large lot adjacent to the church and proceed through the cemetery gates to the building ahead, west entrance.
