November 27, 1972 – June 16, 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brendan, after a courageous battle with lung cancer, at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario. Brendan passed away just two days before his second Father’s Day and two weeks before his daughter’s second birthday. We are heartbroken.

Brendan was a children’s television writer, gifted musician, lover of nature and believer in kindness. He deeply impacted the lives of so many.

Brendan is survived by his wife Emma Russell (nee Smith), daughter Daphne Rose, his parents Ted and Ann Russell, his sister Kerry, brother Dan, Sister-in-laws Lauren and Alexandra, Mother-in-law Edwina Cronin and his nephews, Jacob, Joshua, Logan, Benjamin and Wesley. He will also be missed by his extended family and very devoted “family of friends”.

Special thanks to the caring nurses at Juravinski Cancer Centre and Hospital, the Supportive Care team, and the entire team at DBKH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice in Hamilton (kemphospice.org).

Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Brendan’s life on Friday June 30th from 5 to 9 pm, with a brief service at 8pm at the Art Gallery of Hamilton. Online condolences may be made at ecofuneral.ca
