Taken too soon, we are deprived of a fine lady who had so much more wisdom to impart, but we are not deprived of her memory. Mary left her mark on so many of us leaving us better than if we’d never crossed paths. We can all learn from how she embraced life and its challenges, with a calm acceptance but not a resignation. She was wise in her ability to trust both nature and instinct and our body’s ability to heal. We would have lost her long ago if her mind was closed. I will miss our chats at the park with our dogs running around.
To Jenny, Ben and Jessie, and your families, please accept our condolences. Your Mom was a lovely person and a lovely neighbour. From Catherine, Tony, Eric, Monica & Rebecca (and Teddy).

Jenny, Ben, Jessie,
I opened up a note from your Uncle Ted only to wish he could take back the news that your mother had passed away. After reading his words, I immediately harkened back to one of my first visits to 315 106th St after your cousin Katie had floated the idea that I move in with your grandmother, after I was sent packing from an overcrowded apt. in Queens. Your mother was visiting that day & I recall being so struck by how unguarded she was, clearly placing full belief in my better angels no matter how little she knew about me. I headed uptown figuring I was about to be sized up & left the apartment at such ease – and with considerable intrigue about my next living arrangement.
The next several years were some of the very best memories I have of NY, feeling as if I somehow landed in the embrace of a new & wonderful family (despite dearly loving my own!). Such good fortunes at the innocent age of 21! This was in no short measure because of your Mom and the periodic visits she made, back to NY. Rather than feeling on edge or out of place when she came to visit her childhood home, I remember feeling more welcome than ever. She had a gift for making me feel like I belonged there at that very moment. There was never any dutiful pleasantry. Rather, she was always fully present, heartfelt, and happy to hear about how mine and your grandmother’s lives had converged and the interests we shared up on that enchanting 15th floor – along with our neighborhood jaunts.
Maybe NY just brought out the best in your Mom, but I somehow doubt it. More likely, that was just her enduring nature. Your Mom was a real treasure & I feel so blessed to have known her & spent many wonderful mornings and evenings just speaking freely with her during my spell on 106th St.
I am very sorry for this new station in life you’re all contending with. Know your Mom has left an imprint in many corners & done so in brazen, beautiful fashion. Her spirit remains within and amongst us. That radiance will never relent.
And Love, Dan Doyle

I met Mary and Lloyd many years ago when they attended my course to learn TIR. They were both dedicated healers with their clients always putting their clients welfare before all. Mary and I stayed in touch over the years with me visiting her in Port Hope a couple of times and then through Facebook. Though our time lately has been from afar I will miss the wonderful and warm woman named Mary who gave the best hugs. My condolences to her amazing kids, I know she loved you well.
