Joe was a wonderful big brother to me. He let it be known at our elementary school that he would beat up anyone who bullied me. He taught me to play chess and cribbage. He taught me to climb trees and tape drywall. He made sure that I got the right physics teacher in high school. He had a huge influence on my confidence as I chose to do things that girls weren't expected to do. I am so glad that I got to remind him of this and thank him before he died.
