Please accept my heartfelt condolences. Doug and I worked at KPMG and I considered him my Mentor and Friend. He was kind, intelligent, and a wonderful person. The last message I exchanged with Doug was around January-end. He will be missed!

I worked with Doug for years at KPMG. It was very sad to hear of his passing so soon after his retirement. He worked very hard and was always there for the team so he deserved the time to pursue his many other passions. Rest in peace now Doug - you will be missed.

We offer you our deepest condolences. Doug was a wonderful man who was a precious and unforgettable presence in my life. He joined me in the nineties as Chief Financial Officer for my growing business, Telegroup. His brilliance along with his legendary organizing power turned what was a chaotic office situation into a finely tuned, highly efficient machine. His counsel, advice, and mentoring during our time together were incredibly valuable to me. There are delightful stories about Doug that I still relish telling to this day. What a great and supportive friend he was! We wish you peace during this time of great loss. Shelley and I send our love.

David and I are so sorry to hear of Doug's passing. We so much enjoyed his presence. He had a wry sense of humour and a lovely gentle, kind personality.
We send our love and sympathy to his daughter who has lost her father too soon. I know Doug was looking forward to having more time to spend in Israel after he retired.
Though you have lost his presence physically, he is still with you in your memories and the many things you shared and teachings he imparted while he was with you.

Condolences to the Neish family and I'm truly sorry for your loss. I worked with Doug for many years right up to his retirement on various audits at the firm. Doug always had the patience to explain things to me in a way a non-techie would understand. He was always willing to help out and got things done for our teams. He also brought great insight into discussions with us and our clients which was invaluable. Doug will be missed.

In 2007, at a lunch table in the KPMG US University in Washington DC, my colleague introduced me to a person: “Doug is from Canada too!”. This is how I met Doug. For so many years till the end Doug and I had been having an influence on each other’s life and career. I benefited so much from his intelligence and generosity. I will always remember the witty remarks he made, the deep understanding of human nature and the world he shared, and all the merry moments we had together. Doug, I miss you so much. Rest in peace.

Doug was one-of-a-kind.
I first met Doug on Tuesday, March 17th, 2015 at the KPMG office in Toronto. It was an interview that was supposed to last at most 1 hour, and yet we found ourselves still talking after 1.5 hours. If it wasn't for the fact that I had a job to get back to, we probably would have kept going.
I never met anyone like Doug before. He knew so much about such a diverse range of topics, and not even because he read it in a book -Doug lived it. I remember having a conversation with someone in the office about The Philippines, and Doug proceeded to tell us about the time that he was once stuck in a civil war there! Doug always had a story to tell or an interest fact that could draw people in.
He became a strong mentor to me while at KPMG. I respected his opinion and valued his wisdom. Others felt the same; he was always the 'go-to' person when anyone was stuck on a problem. Even if Doug didn't have first-hand experience how to solve it, he could deduce his way to a reasonable solution. He always went out of his own way for others.
I will never forget the impact Doug had on me personally and in my career. I will forever cherish the stories he told and the memories we had together. I will miss Doug deeply.
Doug, thank you for everything you did for me, as my mentor and my friend.

Right before Doug's retirement, we had a long walk together in the Edwards Garden. Doug said he enjoyed greatly the walk, Starbucks coffee, chocolate madeleines I baked and our conversations. Afterwards I sent him this picture taken in the Garden. He said it is such splendid autumn color...

My sincere condolences to the Neish family. I've worked with Doug every since his return to Canada, and he was one of the most patient "smart guys" I know. He would spend countless hours selflessly teaching me and our whole team technical things in a way we could understand without making it feel like we were wasting his time. He taught us all a lot and we will miss him.

Doug, Hal and I would go to the auto-show every year, here in Toronto. It had become a ritual until COVID hit. Doug was a life-long friend and the most honourable man I have ever met in my life. He enjoyed life, he was playful and loved nature, but he was also deeply committed to his family and friends, holding their welfare above any of his own personal needs. He was steadfast and true. I admired him greatly. I miss him dearly. But I know he has left this world better than he found it. I will always be grateful for our friendship. Rest easy now my friend. I look forward to our reunion one day.
