So sorry to hear of David's passing. David was a great, kind, talented, fun person who helped a friend and I out when we were in need back in the 70's. Always cheerful and positive, it was a pleasure and an honour to have known David. Deepest condolences to Maxine and family.

I think I met David for the first time at least 30 years ago although I can't remember now exactly where or how but I always enjoyed my time in his company. He had so many of the qualities I like best in a person - he was open and kind, warm, funny, hard working and dependable, never unpredictable, slow to anger and quick to forgive. I remember walking on Bloor Street with him when we bumped into somebody quite accidentally but she took some offence, said it was his stupid fault and unreasonably gave him a real tongue lashing. He didn't at all respond in kind and when I asked him why he didn't, he said that you never know what kind of a day somebody else is having or what's going on in their life so we need to cut each other some slack. I will remember too his love of telling you a good story or even better a joke. Some of his jokes were pretty bad actually, but they they made him laugh and him laughing would make me laugh too, more than at the joke itself. He was sociable and was a great host, and as far as I could see could talk to nearly anybody about anything. I don't know how many get-togethers and parties of his and Maxine's that I went to over the years but it was a lot and they were always fun. His 50th and 60th birthday celebrations at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal and King Eddie in Toronto were standout events and will long be remembered by those of us who were privileged to be at them. There are so many good memories. They don't come along like David very often and I know he will be missed by a lot of people for a long time, and certainly by me.

Maxine
I am so sorry for your loss.
My last memory of David was of the day that you had the C100 team over for a barbecue, and he was there to assist and man the grill because you were recovering from your leg injury.
He was warm and welcoming to all of us who were there and his devotion and love for you was evident.
Sending you healing thoughts and a hug of comfort,
Colleen

A dear friend Beth gave me tickets to ‘Yayoi Kusama's INFINITY MIRRORED ROOM - LET'S SURVIVE FOREVER’ at the AGO, David and I went to the exhibit. We were both fascinated, but David was truly in awe of the depth, vastness and beauty of the exhibit. Being there with David was an honour and pleasure we chatted and took numerous photos trying to capture the foreverness. Later that evening Maxine, David and I went out to a nightclub were we laughed and danced until closing time ... this was the evening I found out about David’s cancer. Throughout the whole evening David continue to show his true colours of wonderfulness and joy! Thank you my dear friend for a wonderful evening! The memory of us at the AGO and dancing the night away with you and Maxine will stay with me for infinity. Love you David!

David Humiski was the most fun mentor an intern could ever wish for. He’d phone and leave silly messages. He loved talking about the ‘92 Jays. He always answered frantic calls, e-mails, texts (ranging from “how do I cover this story?” to “the event starts in 10 minutes—where do I park?” to “should I take this job?”). He bragged about his beloved Maxine all the time. David signed notes with “peace/love,” and was floored to learn how he’s impacted my life.
Rest In Peace, David. Thank you for everything.
Maxine, I’m so grateful for the time we had in hospice and at your home last summer. Wishing you, Richard, Katherine, and everyone who loved David good courage in the days ahead.

I first met David in 1984 at CFMT-TV also known as Channel 47 (OMNI-Television) when we both worked together as studio cameramen on the then new third studio crew. David was not only a colleague of mine but I also considered him to be a very good friend. A very decent, kind and good man. I am saddened to hear of his passing. I miss my friend David and remember him in all the many happy memories over all of the years that I was blessed to know him and have his friendship. Rest In Peace my friend! Your friend, Kerry Trebley.
