Mary was a kind, bold, open-hearted, quick-witted and sharp-thinking woman who was a great friend to me over many years. We bonded during our time as teachers at SJCS; became friends quickly and also at a depth that would last across the miles, years and life events since then. Mary was also such a great wordsmith and even as she struggled to find words at times in recent years she continued to express such incisive insights that would sometimes take my breath away even in phone calls. I am very grateful to have had Mary in my life, for all the laughs and serious sharings; especially thankful for the chance to spend time together and even go on a few nostalgic, energetic escapades in 2019! Sincere condolences to Chester, Robin, Jennifer, Meaghan and all Mary's family; I hope that the love and memories are comforting you at this sad time.

Mary and I met in September 1965 in the lecture room of psychology 100 at University of Toronto. We were first-year students at St. Michael’s University of Toronto. We had commonality because her father and I were born only a few miles apart in Friuli, Italy. I told her that she was the most beautiful girl on campus, to which she was too polite to laugh or disagree but instead responded with a wry disbelieving smile. Her innate humility did not allow her to understand that I was not joking. Her beauty was surpassed by a greater attribute, namely, she was a wonderful person. I last saw Mary at the 40th reunion in May 2008 when I wanted to embrace her and kiss her on the cheek but refrained from doing so because I was not sure how my wife, stand beside me, would react. Mary, like everyone who was ever known you, I will miss you.

To the family of Mary Kelly
I remember working with this wonderful lady at Madonna Hign School so many years ago...probably as early as 1972. She was a marvel then, made teaching look effortless and was very supportive, generous and kind to a new, inexperienced teacher like me. Surprising I still have her hand written recipe for Lasagna that she generously shared as well. She was "one of a kind". My heartfelt and sincere condolences to all of her family.

I didn't know Mary but if she was as great as her sisters Joan and Louise, then we lost a truly wonderful person. My deepest sympathies to the Tosoni family.

Mary has been the most loving, loyal, understanding, thoughtful, caring, creative, witty and wonderful friend to me for over 56 years. Throughout many hardships in her life, including the challenges of Parkinson's Disease, she has always faced them head-on with courage, determination and acceptance, while at the same time expressing concern for the needs of others. She was buoyed up by the incredible support of her most loving and devoted husband, Chester, as well as by all her beautiful family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her but we all must trust that she is now being rewarded by the joys of eternal life promised by our Risen Lord, to all those who love Him.

Mary was one of a kind … someone whose friendship I will treasure. She always presented the best of herself, whether we traveled together, shared her well known sense of humor and laughter, supported each other from different sides of the Parkinson’s coin. She and Mark dubbed themselves The Parkies ! My favorite memory that always makes me smile is the (group) dance to the B52s song Love Shack … it was epic. Mary, you will ALWAYS be loved, your are already missed.
Chester, Robin, Jennifer, Meghan and all Mary’s family and friends, my sincerest and deep condolences. I’m certain Mary left you all with enough memories and laughter to share to help with the difficult days ahead. If not ….I bet she finds a way to send some reminders.
May she Rest In Peace and gentleness with God, and all his saints.
With love,
Kathy

Bill and I would like to offer our condolences to Jennifer, Ian, Meaghan, Derek, Chester, Anne-Marie and all members of both families. I would like to share an example of what people mean when they say that she was the kindest person they know. Several years ago, Mary and various family members were at our house after my mother's funeral. When it was time to leave, Mary quietly gathered up the baking which had been served and took it all to the Good Shepherd in Toronto. Wow! She was always looking for ways to be kind to others. She was one amazing lady, one of a kind.

Our sincere condolences to Mary's family and loved ones.
I met Mary 10 years ago taking some physio classes designed for people with Parkinson's disease. We also enjoyed dance classes together at physio even when we were the only students in the class.
We hit it off and our friendship grew. Since then my wife Carol and I have enjoyed many get togethers with Mary and Chester. We enjoyed many lunches and theatre dates at Soulpepper, Tarragon, and Stratford. Mary was a fun loving and beautiful person. We will miss her.

My condolences on hearing of Mary's passing. My memories of Mary go back to teen years and the wonderful Tosoni family and all their hospitality in their home on Greenbriar in Willowdale. Later we had some good chats at P.D. meetings when we were both teaching in the high school system. As the others have said, Mary was a kind and optimistic person who made the world a better place for her family, friends and students. Best,
John Madden

Warm and wonderful Mary, open, willing, friendly, engaging, oldest of a pack of youth who grew up …. together and tight .. out of a loving style they all bought into… a Catholic teacher passing the faith onto her students…I was happy when she and Chester accepted the invitation to see the Passion Play at a Protestant church .. I was delighted when she and Chester reached out to share a dinner at Providence Villa to support her mother while I was also there on a weekly visit..and I also enjoyed a number of phone calls during that period of time while we witnessed the eventual passing of her mother, Marie.
Mary was so soft and caring and thoughtful…a gentle woman of much grace and beauty… What a life she lived of fullness just bee bopping around her daily cares and activities and what a joy she experienced in daily life no doubt..with her loving involvement and support with sisters, and Paul, and especially her daughters and her friends who were close..
I’m sorry this life could not a minute longer hold Mary, but let us scout her out next, in her heavenly, timeless home with Christ.
