Mary Kelly

Obituary of Mary Adele Kelly

Kelly, Mary (née Tosoni)

The family of Mary Kelly (Tosoni) announces with deep sadness, her peaceful passing at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto on Nov. 02, 2022. Mary was given expert medical and personal attention in the neurosugical unit, but could not beat the years of Parkinson's disease aggravated by brain hemorrhage from a severe fall. She was tended with gentle care by the wonderful and attentive palliative care staff of the hospital. The family is most admiring and grateful.

Mary was born on December 19, 1947 in Toronto, daughter of Anthony (Tony) Tosoni and Marie Rose Tosoni (nee Reid). She graduated from the University of Toronto, raised three lovely daughters, and taught school for many years, inspiring countless young minds. She was caring, kind, compassionate and sweet. Mary's sense of humour has to be mentioned as she was well known for her zingers. Even on her death bed, Mary made us laugh. She was a beauty inside and out, carried herself with style and grace, was blessed with a rich life, loved and respected by so many and will be forever missed by all who knew and cared for her.

Mary was the beloved wife of Chester Cengarle (Chet), Tim Kelly (deceased); loving mother of Robin (Mike), Jennifer (Ian), Meaghan (Derek); dear grandmother of Ryan and Malcolm; cherished sister of Elizabeth (Tom), Margaret (deceased), Joan, Paul (Mary), Ann Marie (Herman), and Louise; devoted aunt to Adam (Dani), Matthew (Maura), Anthony, Simone (Philip), Daniel, Julia (Sandy), great aunt to Thomas, Matthew and Harvest; and sister-in-law to Norma (Charlie), Julie (deceased), Rita and Linda (Terry) on the Cengarle side, and Mona, Kay and Mary on the Kelly side.

"What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes part of us."

(Helen Keller)
