Veteran's Affairs Canada Death Benefit

The Death Benefit is a tax-free, lump-sum payment paid to a spouse or common-law partner and dependent children of a Canadian Forces member who is killed while in service or injured while in service and dies within 30 days of the injury. It is delivered by Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC).

Last Post Fund

The Veterans Affairs Canada Funeral and Burial Program ensures that eligible Veterans receive dignified funeral and burial services. The Program is administered by the Last Post Fund, a non-profit organization that has served Veterans since 1909. Grave Marker Assistance can also be sought after through this program.

There are significant eligibility factors that must be met, most of which are based on financial need. More information on eligibility can be found here. The application for Last Post Funding can be made in conjunction with eco or independently here.
