Obituary of Philip Samuel Dodd

DODD, Philip Samuel “A man for all seasons and projects” Born March 7, 1928, Philip died in his home, as he wished, on January 31, 2015. Deeply mourned by his five children: Angela Dodd (Fred Siemens), Janet Dodd, Colin Dodd (Maureen Gray), Audrey Dodd (David Peabody), Michael Dodd (Wendy Mitchell); and their mother Sheila Tait Dodd; his six grandchildren: Cynthia Dodd (Chris Johnston), Michael Dodd (Janice Cho), Byron Dodd (Suzanne Piersma), Caroline Dodd (David VanNoort) and Tait and Jessica Robinson; his three great-grandchildren: Logan and Maryna Dodd, and Christian Dodd; his two brothers-in-law: Raymond Wallis and Julius Pocsai and his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by one brother Kenneth Dodd and his wife Patricia; three sisters: Dorien and her husband George Nellams, Marian Pocsai and Lillian Wallis and one daughter-in-law Marja Vellekoop. “Best Beloved” of Sharon Romagnoli Macdonald, lovingly missed with great respect by her family: her children Meredith and Trevor Macdonald; her granddaughter Harriet Gracie, and Harriet’s father Peter Gracie; her mother Margaret Tufford Romagnoli; her siblings and their spouses: Sandra Easton (Tony), David Romagnoli (Lynn), Dale Romagnoli (Lori), Susan Ross (Derrick). Philip was a tool design draftsmen at General Motors which he retired from, a founding member of the Niagara Freewheelers Bicycle Touring Club and a member of the Ridley and Jordan Adult Skating Clubs. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Friday February 6, 2015 from 5-9 p.m. at 13th Street Winery 1776 Fourth Avenue, St. Catharines. A funeral is to take place on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Centre for Conservation-Glen Elgin Room, 3292 Sixth Avenue, Jordan. Visitors will be received one hour prior.
